Start flirting with life, and dare yourself to fall into it deeply.

Sip your coffee a little more slowly in the morning. Wear the pretty necklace. Dress up a bit. Play music. Sing out loud. Take the long scenic route and smile as you hear the birds sing. Sit at a café to do your work instead of at home. Try a new recipe, or experiment and freehand it. Talk to strangers. Smile at little kids. Watch the sunset and make a point of it, even though “there will always be more.” Laugh at life. Laugh with life. Linger at dinner with friends.

You are only here once. Do you hear me? You are only here once. So look up. Take it in. Be in it. Interact with it. Absorb it. Observe it. Fall in love with it. But most importantly, flirt with it.

Because flirting brings a certain easygoing energy: playfulness, pleasure, a little boldness and daring. And I think we all need a little more of that in our lives.

And start dating yourself.

Take yourself out on dates. Buy yourself gifts. Make yourself laugh and make plans. Do the things you like to do, or wish you could, and don’t wait for anyone else to do them. Go to that restaurant by yourself. Buy yourself flowers. Invest your time, energy, and love in yourself.

At the end of the day, the one person who will be with us until the day we die is ourselves. So why not invest more in that relationship? Write to get to know yourself better. Meditate. Take care of yourself and give yourself love. And trust me, I know it’s not always easy. Far from it, actually. But it’s so important. How do we expect anyone else to invest in us and love us if we can’t do the same for ourselves?

So start flirting with life, start dating yourself, and watch your life become so much richer, more fun, bold, warm, and loving.

That’s all for now.

xx, Nina
